Silverton Engineering Background

Silverton Engineering (Pty) Ltd was established in 1949 as a manufacturer of copper/brass radiators in Silverton, Pretoria, South Africa.

It has grown to become the largest heat exchange manufacturer in South Africa, adding power transformer oil coolers, transmission oil coolers, and mining, agriculture, electrical and industrial products to its range.

The factory occupies over 50 000mof space and employs over 580 people, drawing on the skills and expertise from the surrounding areas as far as Ekurhuleni.

The accquisition of a metal stamping company has expanded the company's offerings into the automotive component sector as a Tier 1 & 2 supplier to the original motor manufacturers with metal press parts and welding assemblies.

An investement was made into a state-of the  art galvanizing facility on the same premises, offering hot dip  galanizing, thermal zinc arc spraying and shot blasting of steel parts and structures.

The company has the ability to create and manufacture custom built solutions according to customer requirements and specifications, both for local and international markets. Latest quality rating obtained - ISO 9001: 2015.

Pieter obtained his Bachelor in Accounting honours degree in 2004 at the University of Pretoria. After completing his articles with Ernst & Young, and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2008, he spent 11 years with an International Mining Company. He has broad experience in all aspects of financial management, international reporting requirements, investment data analysis and duidance, key risk management, as well as strategic medium to long term business planning. He has a proven track record of being a strong leader within multivultural environments and leading financial teams including significant integration, change management and restructuring experience.
Martin Van Nieuwkoop
Martin Van NieuwkoopPlant Manager
Martin holds BEng (Hons) Industrial Engineering (post graduate degree at University of Pretoria) (2017 - 2018) He worked for 1.5 years for Silverton engineering as a Project Engineer (2013 - 2014) and thereafter moved to Islando to work as a Project and Quality engineer in the product development department for 6 months (2014). He became the Product Development and Projects Manager for Silverton Engineering for 4 years (2015 - 2018)
